French Bulldog

French Bulldog French bulldogs are usually of the brachycephalic (short-nosed) type, with an elegant body; overall, this breed is known for its sweet nature. French bulldogs are called Frenchies or French Bulldogs. Frenchies originally came from England in the 1800s and were bred to be good companions for small children. They did not need to be able to run fast or jump high – just be a nice companion.

French Bulldog Puppy French bulldogs have pushed out Boston terriers as most popular of all breeds in some parts of America. French Bulldogs were listed by the American Kennel Club (AKC) in 1887, where they still remain today. In France, they do not even enter into the French Kennel Club stud book. French Bulldogs were first shown in Paris in 1885 under the name Mimi. The breed standard (description) was not written until after World War I, when to Frenchies were imported from England and America; this is something that continues today to keep the French bulldog looking like itself. Their popularity rose quickly, and by 1935 French Bulldog owners had formed their own club in France. However, Frenchies came close to extinction towards the end of World War II but they survived to make a comeback – which they absolutely did! Breeders are now very much concentrated on breeding healthy French bulldogs with good temperament.
